Virtual Distance Football VDF

Posted by Akhilesh Saklecha | 4:35 PM | 0 comments »

An interesting idea, a football that measures and displays how far it has been thrown, so next time you throw a “great one” you can brag about it, knowing the accurate distance. The distance thrown is calculated using sensors that detect when the ball is thrown. Then they detect the impact of a catch or a fumble.

It’s a useful idea actually. This way you will know what’s your best throw and what you have to improve. It’s weird that no one had thought of this before…

The VDF(virtual distance football) can be bought at Discovery for 19.95$.

X-Box Controller New

The Xbox, PS3 and Wii competition has reached new levels. There seams to be a rumor that Microsoft is looking to take over Take Two(the creators and producers of the GTA series). This might be a scenario for preventing future GTA games coming out on the PlayStation3…

This controller is designed to work with the new chat features, has better keyboard and
therefore enables users to use the chat features a lot easier, has its own headset and also the keyboard is illuminated…for those “night-watchers”.

The controller, although large, is very easy to use, and as MSN messenger is now available for the Xbox. It makes sense to provide a way for fast and easy communication and this controller will probably be a great hit the summer, when it comes out. Unfortunately we have no information on the prices. We’ll have to wait until May 7th…

Motion Senser Memo

Posted by Akhilesh Saklecha | 4:31 PM | 0 comments »

How about instead of worrying if the person you left a note for sees it or takes it into
consideration you would just have to record a message for them and they would hear it the instant they enter the room? How about instead of looking all over for the paper and pen that are never there when you need them you would just have to speak away your message and it would be recorded into the memory of (the answer to your prayers) the motion-sensing memo.

All you have to do is record the wanted message, place the memo in its holder and wait for the desired person to walk into the room. Although the recording can only be of 10 seconds in lenght that’s more then enough to give useful directions ( Pick me up at 13:30) or remind the listener of certain tasks (Don’t forget to walk the dog).

You can say good bye to your post-it’s for 19.90 Euros, that’s the price of the motion sensor at getdigital.de

Ever got into the heat of the moment while they were playing your favourite song, started playing air guitar and of course ended up being mocked? Well thanks to Takara Tomy, a Japanese manufacturer, and his newest development, Air Guitar Pro, the mocking will come to their well deserved end.

The Air Guitar Pro represents only the upper neck of a guitar and from it infrared rays beam out, which represent the strings of the guitar and which produce the sound the instant your fingers touch the virtual fretboard of the The Air Guitar Pro. On the controller seven buttons representing the scales from A to G are placed and, on the side, four buttons that identify the cords as major, minor, augmented and diminished.

So now you can rock your way through songs on an air guitar that doesn’t exist only in your
imagination so embarrassment doesn’t represent an issue anymore.

Takara Tomy will begin shipping on the guitar in July and the price is set at 2.300$.

Public buildings like banks, hospitals or airports would have the most advantages from the VisionAccess 3D Face Reader as they have a networked security access.

Although the VisionAccess 3D Face Reader has a high sensitivity and can work from a 3 to 6 feet distance its main downside is that it’s not enabled with a fingerprint or iris reader. The Intruder-Cell Phone Design

The latest cell phone designed by Dennis Hopkins, “The Intruder” has a concept which some people can relate to a UFO, actually influences from that field is mentioned on his website to. But without the outer space resembling this cell phones design is pretty much targeted at women.

Its diameter is of only 2.5 inches and when closed it is just one third of an inch thick. When opened it measures 5 inches in length and the display holds 220 x 176 pixels. And last but not least, when someone calls you a ring of light appears from the sides of the phone.

The website of Dennis Hopkins doesn’t let you in to all the technology used so for now we just have to say good luck to women that now have at their disposal a phone looking like a powder compact.

Well, now thanks to the new Listen Up device all the things said about you when you’re not near enough to hear them are not a secret anymore.

House Sitting Robot takes Snaps of Invaders

House security technology just went up a level thanks to the new house-sitting robot produced in Japan. Although it doesn’t water the flowers or feed the cat while you’re gone like the name might imply, the house-sitting robot has a highly important purpose, and that is protecting the robbery of your house. Although it doesn’t actually prevent robbers from entering your house its mechanism has a high importance in catching the intruders as the system works by taking snap shots of whoever enters your house without your approval.

Another useful feature is that if you own a cell phone equipped with 3G the robot will call you as soon as it’s sensor is set off so you can witness the incident or make sure that it isn’t your dog making all the trouble before you call the police.

Lil' Computer by Fujitsu

Posted by Akhilesh Saklecha | 4:17 PM | 0 comments »

For businessmen who spent more time traveling then sleeping, Fujitsu came up with a new model. In their continuous research for improving convertible tablet PCs they came up with new ultra light models that even though they have lost few functions they are perfectly portable.

The difference between the models is firstly the processors they use as one works with a P70WN and a Solo U1400while the other operates with a P50WN and a Celeron M443.

They both have between 60 to 80 GB hard drive space, you can feast your eyes on an 8.9 inch touch screen display with a resolution of 1280 x 768. And can you believe this whole package weighs only 1 KG? Well for the time being we don’t have a precise price to give you but hey, if there’s any consolation, look how pretty it is!

Haven’t you ever wondered how do those football players can take so many hits in the head and still look intact? I mean those impacts seem really violent, don’t they? Well, that’s what their coaches and team doctors thought as their players were colliding with each other in front of their eyes.

So they teamed up with Simbex and started developing the first helmet capable of evaluating the strength of an impact in real time during one of their games or practices. And because they have to name their invention they called it the Head Impact Telemetry (HIT) System.
A sensor of impact located in the helmet along with a processor and transmitter make any helmet a lifesaver in the field. Information about dozens of players situated hundreds of meters away are sent from the sensors in their helmet to the data collector making possible for them to observed continuously. If an impact surpasses the safety level a pager warning is sent to the person in charge.
The duration of the impact, as well as rotational acceleration, the peak linear acceleration an the location of the incident are stored in the data collector for a more profound analysis. Hopefully this is just the start for the progress in making safer sports gear.

DXG Roadster Digital Camera

Posted by Akhilesh Saklecha | 4:12 PM | 0 comments »

Most gadgets invented nowadays are multifunctional, so that doesn’t surprise anyone anymore. But usually the things they can do are from the same area, like a phone that takes photos, they both concern media. Or a kitchen robot that slices and blends, they both have to do with things that will end up in your stomach. Well, lets just say that the guys who invented the DXG Roadster digital camera wanted to break the patterns.

So the DXG Roadster , being a digital camera, you would expect to film, be able to do some things with the zoom or the quality of the image, anyway, little stuff like that. Boy, you are wrong, besides doing the same tricks another digital camera can do, this one has some more aces up its sleeve. It can take pictures, capture video, record and play movie and video clips, play games, play FM radio, and do digital voice recordings. And all of this jam-packed in a package of only L 4.75”, H 2.25” and D 0.81.

And, of course, what’s worse then buying a device with a complicated menu and not so easy to use buttons? Oh, and also purchasing a multifunctional gadget and when you get around to using it, it can’t to none of them right! Well this is another pattern the DXG Roadster broke as all the options that is provided with are doing their job perfectly and it has a pretty handy menu. And another rule breaker would be the price, only 200$.

ChinaVision Wristwatch CVESG-S818-2

Posted by Akhilesh Saklecha | 4:11 PM | 0 comments »

It seems like nowadays no one’s carrying a watch anymore. I mean, why would you, you have your telephone that you can check whenever you want to know weather you will be late or not and, really now, to have on you a device that is only good for ONE thing is pretty odd now.

Yeah, the same thing occurred to the guys from Chinavision so they decided to improve the old wristwatch so they added just a bit new things that it is able to do. So they went on and equipped it with a 1.8 LCD windscreen.

Oh, but you don’t imagine that little (literary little) beauty is just for telling you what time it is? Of course not! The CVESG-S818-2, as they call it, can take on MP3, WMA WAV files and also converted MTV video files so you won’t be bored with your new watch.

And of course to such a multifunctional device you would want a nice display photo, wouldn’t you? Good, because it can also support JPEG photo files. It hosts also a text viewer so it can be also a new and improved way of cheating at an exam. It has 2 GB of memory so don’t worry, you’ll have space for anything you want. The CVESG-S818-2 is also equipped with an internal speaker, voice recorder, USB 2.0 connectivity FM radio, six equalizer settings and a 3.5-millimeter headphone jack.

The headphones are mostly used in order not to disturb or draw attention to ones self but once you have this gizmo I am quite unsure about the drawing of attention, I mean, you have a screen on your wrist!

Anyways, like all the things this tiny device can’t do aren’t amazing enough already let me tell you the price: a little over 56$! So let me ask you this, what are you still waiting for?

Antelope Audio Isochrone

How would you like to have the most accurate watch in the world? Don’t get scared about the fact that it is an atomic watch and the radiations are only a few inches from you, they won’t affect you. No, seriously! Just imagine, the Antelope Audio Isochrome M10 is 100,000 more accurate then you current quartz based watch.

So if you want a perfectly accurate time telling, close to perfect audio video you should buy the Antelope Audio Isochrome. Although you may find the price to be a bit high, I would say that 2200$ are money well spent for the quality this device provides you with.

I imagine thinking about what lays between the keys of your keyboard send shivers down your spine. I mean, just imagine, whole nations of bacteria working on devouring the dead skin cells that you left behind. Was that descriptive enough? Yeah, probably that image was the one the guys from ThinkGeek had in mind when they developed the USB Digital Microscope. T-mobile decided to finally release its own BlackBerry. Up to now the had only had the Cingular cell phone. Digital Locket by Kodak with LCD Screen

Posted by Akhilesh Saklecha | 4:05 PM | 0 comments »

Remember the old picture lockets that your mother or grandmother wore? Well, if you look in the picture you may think that’s exactly what you’re seeing, but oh, you are so sadly mistaking. What you are really looking at is Kodak’s latest development, digital camera in shape of an antique locket designed by non other then Lindsey Picket.

After designing a cell phone for Samsung Global Sponsorship in 2005, it seems like Picket as switched sides and designed this fabulous device for Kodak..

Actually, the 1881 as they called the camera works on the same principle as grandma’s locket worked: saving and preserving the pictures you love. The difference is that now you see them on an LCD screen at an amazing accuracy. But that’s such a “tiny” difference, isn’t it?

You can take a photo, either while the locket is closed or, watch it as you take it, to make sure the positioning is correct, on the LCD screen

So now you can get both a camera and a piece of jewelry in one package. Well, I’m not complaining but still, I wonder what they’ll think of next.

Slimmest LCD

Posted by Akhilesh Saklecha | 4:05 PM | 0 comments »

Like the LCD televisions weren’t already thin enough, the guys at C|NET decided to out do themselves and designed the slimmest LCD-screen television that is on the market at this point. It is 10 inches thick and has a 58-inch JVC HD-58S998.

It seems though that this catwalk thin television has a problem with displaying perfectly straight vertical or horizontal lines, but if you aren’t blessed with eagle sight and you don’t have obsessive-compulsive syndrome, I don’t quite see why should you would be bothered by that.

Not to mention that according to C|NET, this devices creators, the price would be as shocking as the thickness of the television, meaning slim as it. Well, we don’t have the price yet, but still, f you want a DLP set that is close to perfection and you don’t want to your pockets to be as thin as the TV you buy, you should really consider taking a look at this LCD.

All of todays cell phones are equipped with a rechargeable battery. One of the most important features is how long your battery will hold, both while you are using the phone and while it is on stand-by.

And don’t you hate it when it runs off exactly when your boss wanted to call you about that promotion, or when that party you had to go to was canceled but your phone was dead so you ended up being the goose?

Well, apparently these kind of things happened also to the guys from Motorola, because they decided to develop the first cell-phone that is rechargeable on solar energy. Well it seems like this phone recharges itself taking energy from the sun through his LCD screen. Not to mention that alternative energy sources such as solar energy are the energy sources of the future. It sounds like Motorola have bought themselves place there.

A really important attribute of this already close to perfect device is that it survives crashes and when you turn off your car it shuts down properly making sure your data stays safe.

Don’t you just hate it when you don’t hit the right button on your MP3 player and instead of just changing the song you end up shutting it down? Or do you remember those 90’2 CD players that you had to keep perfectly still so your song wouldn’t sound like a crazy DJ’s remix?

Well the Sandisk guys took these two annoying things and blended them into something great. And so the Sansa Shaker was created. This gadget is devised so that it changes tracks when you shake it. Awesome, no?

The device works on one triple A battery and it is equipped also with a SD expansion slot. It has a built in speaker and it comes with two headphone jacks as well. Sadly, it only comes in the colors of pink and baby blue, but you can comfort yourself with the price of only 39.99$. And now, in the end, I’d like to leave you thinking about the torment of a man jogging and listening to the Sansa Shaker.

At the beginning of this entry let us have a moment of nostalgia for our beloved Harleys or Ducatis. And now that the moment is over, say hello to the new generations of roaring motorcycles that are due to appear later this year. Devised by Machinheart, these new hybrid motorcycles are here to give you a glimpse of the future and maybe a breath of fresh air.

This hybrid bike goes up to 150 MPG from propane, diesel or gasoline. The biggest difference between them and the classic ride is the monocoque frame, stronger then the original one. Just like many of the hybrid motor rides designed today, this has a motor powered by the battery used for accelerating as the one powered by fuel charges the batteries.

Honda and Yamaha have stated that they will both release a hybrid that, unlike traditional bikes makes nearly no sound. I guess that would take the thrill out of the ride, no? But don’t be scared, they’ve figure out a solution: a noise generator that would imitate the deafening noise of a usual motorcycle. Now, isn’t that a bit freaky?

After the development of gaming chairs that move according to the games action and computer beds designed so that you end up being a “computer potato” and never see anything else weather you’re awake or sleeping, now G-Tech Neber releases a chair that confirms the theory that sitting correctly on a chair is so overrated.

This new SciFi chair is at present on show in Korea. The design includes so much chrome, that it actually looks like one of those Matrix chairs - you don’t have to take the blue pill.

The company says that, giving so much support to the back, head, hands, wrists, back and feet, the chair is completely ergonomical. Also, having the curved back, the chair gives you the opportunity to seat in any position you want. Just look at the picture, it looks so cool!

Now, cover half of the picture posted and try to figure out what the first clock is saying. Well, it says that the time is 12:59, how do I know that? Every column represents a number, the number of squares lighten up on each column tells you what how many minutes or hours have passed. Brought to you by Lexton, this Wall Clock has also a smaller brother, in the form of a wrist watch that has the same confusing time-telling way.

You can keep this clock on its very own built-in stand on your living-room wall and in the mean time have fun watching the confused faces of your visitors trying to figure out just what’s the time. You can buy the Lexon LCD Wall Clock for only 203$. Small price to pay for the laughs you’ll have.

Even if Santa Rosa recently had a period of intense gadget releases they still have an ace up their sleeve. According to ASUS, we have to welcome the arrival of five new exceptional laptop models. The A7S-7S006C model has a 1440 x 900 screen. It runs on a 2GHz T7300 Core 2 Duo processor. It is 17 inches wide and, yes it is exciting, it is equipped with the all-new NVIDIA GeForce 8400G mobile graphics card with 896MB of RAM.

The one you see in the picture is the F3SV model. It uses processors between T7100 and T7700. It has 2GB of RAM at your disposal and of course the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M graphics, only this time it has 1 GB of RAM.

The F3SC model, although alike, has only NVIDIA GeForce 8400 graphics with 384 MB of RAM. Both F3SC and F3SV have 15.4-inch screens with a 1280 x 800 resolution.

The A8SC has the same type of graphics card. It is also equipped with a 1.8 GHz T7100 processor, a memory of 1 GB of RAM and a 14.1-inch screen with a 1280 x 800 resolution.

Last, but not least, the W7S model has a 13-inch screen with a 1280 x 800 resolution. Uses a T7100 to T7500 processor. It has 2 GB of Ram and GeForce 8400 graphics with 128 MB.

All models come with web cams of different resolutions and ample connectivity

DPP-FP90 & DPP-FP70

Koreans should be very happy people because, for now at least, their country is the only one in which Sony released their new compact printers. The two models, ‘DPP-FP90’ and ‘DPP-FP70’, provide you with dye sublimation and with high-resolution prints in just 45 seconds.

The reason why these printers are so innovative is the option of printing without the need for a PC. They can support 24 models of memory cards and have multi-slots. The ‘DPP-FP90’ has a 3.6 inch color LCD screen and the ‘DPP-FP70’ a 2.5 inch one. Because both models are equipped with ‘Bionz’, an image processor that supports up to 48M image quality, therefore enabling you to modify your photos before printing them.

The printers are also portable, so when you need to be some place else and you also need your printer you just have to grab them by their handle and take off. And also, an important feature of the printers is that they have a coating option so that your photos can be kept undamaged for a much longer period of time.

io-Jacket

Although all modern gadgets have the goal to combine good-looks with multifunctional technology and effectiveness, this is so much better then the others! Why? Because you can actually wear it! It has all the cool stuff in it like a Bluetooth and built-in MP3 player or touch sensitive control pads. But the ability through which its promoted is its compatibility with GPSoverIP. It uses a hybrid GPS technology which enables you to look for the person wearing the jacket even inside a building. The person who wears the io-Jacket can upload the information to a mobile phone or to the internet giving the watcher (probably a deranged parent) the opportunity of observing his/her every move. Londefrey, the company which produces it has sold one for humanitarian causes carrying out an auction in the purpose of saving money for the “Humans for Humans” foundation. It seems though that none other have been made for commercial purposes so we just have to sit and wait.

Spinner, Blade Runner

Blade Runner was not the first to suggest a flying car (generically referred to as a “spinner”), but flying, hovering and levitating cars have been a standard futuristic assumption for decades. The Jetsons, Harry Potter, and the Fantastic Four all rode around in flying cars (though some were admittedly propelled by magic, not science).

BMW Gina Light Car Concept

Posted by Akhilesh Saklecha | 10:48 PM | 0 comments »

Car manufacturers have always been interested to explore how the vehicles of the future would be like, but the key remains as to how prepared are we to face the challenge of presenting newer options. We know that BMW always introduces jaw-dropping car concept such as the last post in this blog BMW M1 Homage, but even in our wildest dream we don’t expect to see BMW latest car concept would be made of cloth. BMW Group Design has come up with GINA or Geometry and Functions in “N” Adaptations. BMW Gina Light car concept promotes innovative thinking and allows maximum freedom of creativity. Also BMW has explored the creative options that can be provided rather than probing how the future cars will look like. This car can change shape and surface at the flick of a switch, and the ‘GINA’ principles it espouses have been used to craft today’s BMW design language.

German designer Ramin Ansari has designed a car that seemed to be picked direct from a Sci Fi comic book. Two Two is what they call and is an electric car which can be transformed from a 2 –seater to a 4 –seater at the press of a button! While the 2 seater length is 2.5 meters, and the 4 seater is almost 3.1 meters long. It is powered by Lithium-Ion batteries which are coupled with 4 wheel hub engines. Delivers a power output of 100kW, allowing a range of 250 kms in a full charge. To recharge the car, it takes 3.5 hours. So all you James bond fans, this one is surely made for you!
